The Sheinbaum Index: Separating Perception from Performance: Sunday, January 10, 2027, Noon

As conversations about Mexico’s president often reflect strongly held—and sometimes conflicting—opinions, how can we move beyond anecdotes and political rhetoric? Drawing on Mexico News Daily’s Sheinbaum Index, journalist Travis Bembenek examines President Claudia Sheinbaum’s performance through a data-driven analysis of the issues that matter most.

Using polling, economic indicators, security data, and other key measures, Travis explores how Sheinbaum is performing across several major sectors and why perceptions of her presidency can differ so dramatically among Mexicans, expatriates, and international observers. Which achievements are supported by the data? Where do the numbers tell a different story? And what do these trends reveal about the direction of Mexico as it approaches the midpoint of Sheinbaum’s first term?
